Strength
"Before this collaboration came about, we were each working on our own. Now one plus one has become three or even four. Our strength lies in this synergy and in the fact that we are complementary to each other."
Ambition
"We are scientific institutions where research and education are paramount. But all academic medical centres have a third core task: social services. A key ambition is to take what we devise and develop in the academy to the field. And that this ultimately leads to more health and fitness and, of course, to better sports performance."
Collaborate
"If you work together, you can accomplish greater things. In that collaboration, you do have to be selfless. If you are not prepared to give something to others, you will not achieve anything. Incidentally, you can be picky about collaborations because quality comes first."
Pride
"As an institution, we can be proud that we have built a strong international reputation and are receiving appreciation for our work. And for me, it was a great moment when I got to open a major IOC congress in 2017 as a keynote speaker with the conceptual model 'sequence of prevention' that I developed in 1992."
Future
"In the coming years, we need to create a situation where there are enough financial resources to perpetuate what we have. Now with corona, there is no one left who doubts the health importance of sports and exercise. We must make wise use of that bow wave."
