Collaborating Researcher
Dirk Dessing (1983) studied at the VU university in Amsterdam: after his Bachelor in Human Movement Sciences he earned his Master’s degree in Health Sciences in the field of 'Prevention and Public Health’. During his internship at TNO, he became interested in mapping physical activity through the use of GPS and accelerometers. Currently, he applies this method in his doctoral research at the VU. In this research he examines the impact of a safe school environment on the physical activity levels of primary school children. Besides a researcher, he is an avid sports, film and music enthusiast.
